Every day we are witnessing and experimenting with how powerful AI and machine learning can be. A lot of corporations, companies, startups, and entrepreneurs are putting tremendous efforts into Artificial Intelligence, Deepfake and machine learning, combine that with blockchain then you created an unstoppable beast. Humans are moved by effective marketing, branding, and the hype; they also have idols that have a huge influence on them, from artists to singers, to entrepreneurs, and business people.
Developers, Scientists, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and NFTs
Steve Ballmer went crazily on the stage screaming, “Developers, Developers, Developers!” A billionaire like Steve Ballmer wouldn’t do that just for fun. He does have a good idea about how developers play a huge role in machine learning and Artificial Intelligence.
“Steve Ballmer jumping and screaming on stage, developers, developers, developers…”
If NFTs existed at that time what Steve Ballmer did on stage would have been a digital asset that some people would be willing to pay millions to own it if it went on auction.
Restaurants Are Going Waiterless, Thanks to Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning!
In the USA, tipping is a big thing, the relationship between you and the waiter is based on tips, if you tip them they will like you and serve you may be better but if you don’t, then they might ignore you or scream at you. In most Western countries the social life barely exists. It is normal to have a neighbor next to you but not know anything about them. It’s like you are next to each other but living in total isolation. So what does this have to do with machine learning and AI? If you look at it from a different perspective, well it might have a lot to do.
Imagine that you have a choice to save money instead of paying tips. By entering a restaurant where a machine serves you, you won’t just be saving on tips but you will also get a pleasant experience of your order being highly more accurate and consistent. Plus, there will be no place for hard feelings between you and the waiter anymore since you are interacting with a machine, not just that but also via machine learning it can mark you as a regular and get you what you need without even ordering! So what do you think? Will many people choose to save tips and avoid that situation with the waiter or would they choose to go to a human waiter service restaurant?
As for social isolation between communities, it somehow proves that people accept more to interact with a machine than a human being, and so the machine learning will work even better. If you live your life and barely see your family or know the neighbor next door, what is it that would stop you from choosing machine over humans!?
Algorithms are floating over the internet swimming like sharks, tracking, analyzing, collecting, learning, and improving.
Rating and Automated Driving Cars that Might Become Popular
What if I told you that machine is already controlling parts of our lives now and machine learning has already made a great progress?
Uber rates both the driver and the customer. The reason they created this feature is to increase the possibility of people interacting in a more professional manner toward each other. If your rating is low, Uber will match you with an equivalent driver or one more close to your rating.
But imagine that no high rating driver is available and you have a high rating score. In that case, Uber will have to match you with a driver that has a lower score. Indirectly, you would start assuming what that driver did. You might think that he\she is not a professional or probably a headache.
If by your surprise, the driver turns out to be really good, this means he\she was judged for some reasons that lowered his/her rating! By making assumptions about the driver based on his\her rating, you gave the machine permission to control how you perceive others and how they perceive you! In a Black Mirror series episode, this was shown and you can understand it better to match it with Uber and a rating of any product or service you want online and see how it’s happening.
Now imagine Uber has an automated driving car (which is something they are already working on along with other companies such as Amazon ZOOZ). While Uber will definitely need people to analyze and monitor (even this part can be automated when the machine learns enough from humans), if Uber gets automated self-driving cars, so many drivers would lose their jobs! (Shocking, yes it is!)
Now imagine again Amazon delivering products via drones. Amazon will definitely need employees for monitoring, analyzing, guiding, and intervening, but would that be enough to cover how many delivery workers will lose their jobs?
Humans Tied to Chairs with Tubes Feeding them, Stuck in a Virtual Reality World – Is that Possible?
PUBG is one famous game that had tremendous growth, especially during COVID-19. This game even caused some children to disrespect their parents when they asked them to leave the game. But how such a game turned parents into accepting that their kids will not stop playing the game all the time is a completely different story.
Strategy works, especially if you know how to play the game. Humans are moved by money. Give them money and they would almost accept anything. But, what those companies want is to make you spend as much time as possible playing the game. You may think it’s a joke to say we are witnessing The Hunger Games today. Well, it’s not. In fact, we are too close to The Hunger Games movie today more than ever. Play or watch players play PUBG over YouTube or Twitch and you will understand how PUBG and even Pokémon Go succeeded at that!
Well, if Pokémon Go players are willing to go down the street to chase augmented reality objects, more people will be willing to stay home and play PUBG as they are not on the streets and are just hiding behind a screen.
But how did PUBG make that possible? As mentioned before, people are moved by money. Show them money and they might do anything or accept anything, even things that don’t intersect with their beliefs. So, PUBG enabled this through a competition. A lot of YouTubers started streaming videos about the game and there is nothing more powerful in this world than storytelling. You still have people today fighting over stories that were told a hundred or thousand years ago. It doesn’t matter if the story is true or not, what matters is how you tell the story from when you raise a child until they grow up.
So what PUBG does is that it tells you a story of few people who became very rich and earned millions as a matter of participating in PUBG competition. By winning the competition, a lot of YouTube players make a huge amount of money as PUBG YouTube streamers. When parents hear such stories that are fully true, they unconsciously and indirectly start accepting the fact that their kids could be winners in this game. You might even see them encouraging their kids to play the game all day long or just watch them do it and say nothing.
What does this tell us? It tells us that being stuck in this game makes people accept there is nothing outside. There is no nature, no trees, no mountains to climb, no roads to walk on. All these things just do not exist. What truly exists is a chair behind walls and a TV screen connected to a console.
So, Are People Tied to a Chair Stuck in a Virtual Reality World with Tubes Feeding them a Possibility?
Yes. It is VERY possible, and I write “very” in caps because what we are seeing today proves that it is definitely possible from a physiological aspect.
Imagine the following scenario as proof: A gaming provider with a high reputation and financial power such as Sony, Atari, or Microsoft Xbox decides it’s time to go fully virtual and pushes into marketing, then that it will be highly possible.
Similarly, when you decide to buy either an Apple or an Android phone, you barely have any other choice and you have been programmed to make a decision between those 2 choices only. So, it doesn’t matter what choice you make; what matters is what you buy from your 2 options. It’s the software that matters to you and if you do not accept iOS as software, you will probably accept Android. Really, what other choice do you have? And even if a 3rd or 4th operating system popped up, what other choice do you have?
Today you see a child’s refusing to listen to their parents when they ask them to leave the game and go study or do something else. They even disrespect them and the system does not allow parents to discipline their kids any way they wish, so parents have to be gentle and try to find innovative ways to make their kids listen. However, not all parents are super smart and when they are, the kids might be hard to convince so the endpoint is usually that the kids do whatever they want, either by not listening to their parents, lying to them, or by seeing other kids treated differently than how they are treated. They blame their parents for not being like the other kids’ parents and that creates more issues within the family. Parents and kids lose respect for each other and everyone neglecting or ignoring each other becomes the norm.
This case in point tells us that it is highly possible for the existing generation and the upcoming one to be programmed and tied to a virtual reality world. Just like you see some kids don’t leave the game console until they finish their PUBG game to the point where they forget eating or either rush to eat in a minute or sandwich while playing the game, yes, it is very likely that we see people tied to a chair, stuck in a virtual reality world. When this happens you will find companies who want to make money selling tubes that come as a pack or standalone of your virtual reality devices in which you can still play and be fed at the same time. The need for such a device is created when the demand gets higher on augmented reality and people start spending more time in the virtual reality world. Virtual reality is not science fiction. It is possible and the invention of feeding tubes (just like the ones at a hospital used to feed patients) is also possible.
If you are an entrepreneur or business owner that is into tech and digital transformation, wouldn’t you create a tube to feed people and make them spend more time in the virtual reality world so you could make more money out of it? Think about it!
I Would Go like Steve Ballmer on Stage Now and Scream, “Psychologists, Psychologists, and Psychologists!”
Are you asking why? The demand of psychologists will only increase for the following reasons:
- -Parents unable to communicate with their kids anymore and vice versa.
- -People stuck in a virtual reality world will reach a point where they don’t understand if the virtual world is the real world or the one without virtual reality. More people will commit suicide because of this.
- -People will lose how to communicate effectively or won’t know how to communicate in real life. What we really know today as proof is that the difference is shocking when you communicate with someone via texting or have a face-to-face conversation with them.
- -Psychologists will go digital but how can they convince you that there is a world outside when they are digitally communicating with you?
- -Social life in real life might become an unacceptable thing. In London, for example, you might be accused for saying “Hello.” Does that make better sense now?
- -You might not have any real friends in life if humans accept more virtual reality in their lives.
- -People might get stuck with deepfake, communicating with important people in their lives who are gone and not being able to recognize deepfake from reality.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) – The Movie Her: Already with Us!
If you’ve watched the movie HER, you will know what I am talking about, and if you don’t well here it is:
In many homes today, we can find Alexa, Siri, and Cortana. What you do is actually speak to a machine and that machine responds back. On many websites you visit today, you have the option to talk to a chat-bot. Most of the chat-bot systems are connected to machine learning, so what does machine learning do? If you ask for something and the machine doesn’t know how to answer or gives you the wrong answer, the one behind the chat-bot or the voice device updates this machine and gives it answers. In this way, its machine learning and it learns how to respond better to your request next time.
So, what is this phenomenon called? It’s called Conversational Design and there are several developers, tech people, scientists, psychologists, and engineers, some of the brightest brains, working on Conversational Design to know better how to respond to customers. Hence, you can imagine how much those chat-bots and voice command devices are learning and updating. With every lesson learned, they become better and the conversation designers have nothing to do but make it better.
Project Alma is an IBM project that focuses on conversation design combined with what Artificial Intelligence is. What’s astonishing about it is that it feels like you are talking to a real person or even a psychologist for that matter.
Let’s assume you asked Alma a question and it told you something and you didn’t understand. You would tell Alma that I don’t understand or ask what it means. Alma will bring back the answer in a different way that would be more understandable for you. This project might still be in Beta but it exists and we are much closer today to the scenario we saw in the movie HER than ever.
Many People Hear the Word Artificial Intelligence (AI) but They Have No Idea What it Means. So, What Is AI?
Artificial Intelligence (AI) Definition
AI has the ability of a computer-controlled machine to perform and learn tasks commonly associated with intelligent beings. This means that Artificial Intelligence learns from humans via machine learning to copy their behavior, think like them and execute actions.
A single human or even a group of humans cannot focus at the same time on providing tailored answers and customized information based on each individual request. Artificial Intelligence can reach a point where it can provide the precision of customized information and tailored answers and perform billions of tasks at the same time. It has the capability to analyze, decide, prevent and predict at the same time.
As per AI definition and machine learning, Artificial Intelligence is able to clone humans via digital transformation. It analyzes their behavior, interactions, emotional states, and expressions and comes up with an accurate analysis and summary.
Can Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning Beat Humans?
Yes, it can.
BlackRock is an investment management corporation that manages over 8.6 trillion in assets. Yes; the number is not a joke – 8.6 TRILLION!
BlackRock owns Aladdin software, and Aladdin manages over 11 trillion of assets. So what does Aladdin do? It combines sophisticated risk analytics and highly scalable processing capabilities to enable you to see your whole portfolio, understand risks and exposures and act with speed and precision, and so on the machine learning keeps running.
But how does Aladdin do it? The software is connected to supercomputers and has been fed information of tens or maybe hundreds of years from the past. It is being fed information of the present which has made it super powerful to analyze, the machine keeps learning and improving, predict and provide precision-based information in just a matter of seconds.
So what AI and machine learning does is not just about information and data; it’s about learning and how it learns. The algorithms that have been put into it are all based on the thoughts of the most intelligent human beings you could ever encounter. While the human brain does not have the capability or have limited capability to multi-task and act like a machine learning or to match high-speed information of a hundred and thousand years old with the present to make sense of things, an Artificial Intelligence robot can do it in a split second and give you the information just how you want it!
Whatever that is being done today in technology, from the high-speed internet to the collection of your finger and eye prints to written conversation design, machine learning and behavior tracking through online as well offline via surveillance to your voice signature print, pitch, and tone that you send to your coworkers, family, and friend to digitization, is only being done to make AI a “Smarter Master.”
Deepfake will become a thing! We Are All Digits Now Swimming and Floating as Data on the Cloud
If there are 7 billion humans on earth and those 7 billion use technology, take their photographs, have video conversations, make calls, send voice notes, use social media, send comments to friends, follow, unfollow or like something, make purchases, hesitate to make purchases, listen to music, watch movies, talk to somebody online and do so many other things that you can only imagine, data is being collected over the Internet where your data defines who you are and you can simply be cloned and so deepfake can be easily done cloning you.
And as we move faster in the digital world, we will also be moving faster with digital cloning and deepfake. We will witness more and more information warfare and deepfake after deepfake that we won’t be able to tell what’s fake from real.
If you watch this deepfake video of Tom Cruise, you would in no way know that Tom Cruise is not in the video and its deepfake, because is it really him or is it not? Well, that’s called deepfake video which can clone your identity, image, voice, facial expressions and make it as you can. Watch in this video and see deepfake with your own eyes!
And if you don’t believe that video is deepfake, here you go again
So does that tell you that you can easily be digitally cloned or not via deepfake!? Does it tell you that information warfare is inevitable and deepfake can play a major role in it or not!?
Does Blockchain help Artificial Intelligence (AI)?
So how does Blockchain help AI. Whatever that Blockchain does, it helps AI become more efficient and smarter when combined with Blockchain. Today we are hearing a lot about NFTs [Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs)] that are digital files whose unique identity and ownership are verified on a Blockchain.
You see a lot of memes on the internet, those memes have owners especially when they represent or symbolize a certain human but since Blockchain was not that understood as much as it is today, that meme you see can be sold for millions of dollars if on Blockchain because whoever created that meme either based it on their own personality or used it from a specific movie scene, or designed it that way and if you look into the depth of the economical side of it. This could be a very profitable thing when on Blockchain, but since it could be why wasn’t it?
That’s because Blockchain was not a thing or because no one thought of it until NFTs came. Blockchain allows this to be possible to protect your digital rights, so for example, if you create a specific meme, or design and put it on the Blockchain, it gets stamped to the date you’ve put it, and if anyone comes in the future and claims that this work is theirs, then you publishing it on the Blockchain makes you the sole owner of it digitally which means you can hold them accountable and have the right to sue them. Does that make your work or digital stuff when on Blockchain unique and more valuable or not?
So, all big companies want is to make money from Blockchain. Suppose you see someone, for example, using Mickey Mouse and making money out of it (either little or big). For Disney to prosecute that individual or company they have to go into the court process. It is going to take time and they might not win, especially if that person makes specific edits that could support what that person is claiming and make the case blurry, but if Blockchain exists, this means that Disney and the alike now can make more money.
So how does Disney make more money out of Blockchain? It simply puts its digital work on the Blockchain making Disney the sole owner of this digital work and opens the possibility for Disney to auction on Blockchain the use of this digital work for example for 10 times only. After the auction is completed, if this artwork is used more than 10 times, then it means using Blockchain Disney will know about it and can prosecute whoever broke the terms of the deal since Disney has the sole ownership.
Can you now imagine the possibilities of money-making on Blockchain from this with the whole art world, celebrities, games, sports, digitals, and public figures that exist today!?
And can you imagine how AI and Blockchain can be integrated into this and become more powerful to even taking judgmental decisions in some cases where there is no need to go to court and have a judge on the case?
AI with Blockchain can take care of it all via tracking, analyzing, and making more precise decisions!
So just when you thought that judges can never be replaced, in a digital world powered by Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence robot, machine learning, and quantum computing, this can be possible.
We Are All Supporting the Digital Game and Playing It with or without Knowing It!
Corporations have a vision for digitization and a digital future and whether we like it or not, we are participating in this vision and helping accelerate it. The quicker we adopt technology as humans, the more this becomes possible faster. It doesn’t seem that you, I, or anyone has the choice to not let that happen because we are the heroes right now who are supporting this, but how much does that matter? Well, if you think about it, it does not matter much because we all will eventually go away and the upcoming generations that replace us will be reading stories. Such a scenario can be possible if you watched “V for Vendetta” but except that there will be no V to save you!
You may ask why!? Because corporations will have more control over your behavior with the power of AI and use deepfake to influence you. This helps them act in the exact way that they should act with you, with the utmost precision to stop you.
If the technology that exists today existed tens or hundreds of years ago, it would have made it more possible to shut down a revolution and create another one within minutes. It would have avoided wars between countries in minutes and raised another in minutes all because of the powers such as data, tracking, and analyzing that support the Master AI to be a much more effective beast.
So What Should or Can Governments Do about That!?
More policies must be created: policies that value humans and our intelligence more than AI. Governments should:
- -Focus, encourage, and reward the actual real interaction between humans more.
- -Provide humans with the knowledge and appropriate education to identify fakeness and realism.
- -Put policies over AI that halts its power when it comes to controlling humans’ lives.
- -Put policies that do not allow AI to take specific human jobs even if AI can do it better than humans.
- -Create a system that overrules AI decision-making even if it’s right and makes sense but doesn’t serve humans better.
- -Put rules for virtual reality usage and have control over it in which it shuts the connection down if humans spend more than the allowed time per day.
- -Create awareness and enable activities in which humans go out and interact more with each other away from computers and the virtual world.
- -Train people on skills that make them better than AI in doing their job.
- -Limit the usage of AI to specific tasks and missions.
- -Empower AI to serve and obey humans and respect and protect their privacy.
- -Tax extremely high corporations, individuals, or companies that choose to use AI and humanoids over humans.
- -Empower AI to figure deepfake and and analyze deepfake to equip people with the knowledge and tools that help them figure if its deepfake or real and protect themselves against such stuff or any manipulation.
- -Create the tools that can effectively automatically monitor and identify digital clones, deepfake and digitally edited and assembled fake data and deepfake videos.
Are We Moving toward a Universal Income World?
No matter what we believe in or say, AI is coming to replace many jobs and do them even better than humans. From construction to creativity and everything you can imagine, AI and machine learning can be great at it and in most areas, better than humans. Combined with automation, it can eliminate a huge workforce especially if they are not up to date, or don’t have the required skills or learning capabilities.
So what will governments do to help the people to keep living? Will they create a universal income for everyone that is out of the job due to AI? And will this be a good thing or will it make people feel they are more useless? Will it tax humanoids, and would robotics work to give back to humans!?
Will people appreciate more nature and stepping away from the digital world and go back to old techniques that made life much simpler like trading food items and specific skills while they make robots and AI operate as their butlers to make specific things easier for them? Or will we all get stuck in a virtual world where our lives turn into a similar one like The Hunger Games movie where the rich watch us play just like the historical kings and rich watched people fight each other hundred and thousands of years ago in a ring.
Will we see Super Human Pills to overpower Artificial Intelligence (AI)?
Bradley Cooper, aka Eddie Morra in the movie Limitless, takes a pill that makes him access the full capability of his brain. It says in the movie that it activates certain receptors in the brain giving him super capabilities by fully accessing his brain.
If you ever tried weed or marijuana, you would notice that the movement of things around you becomes slower. You will start noticing every single detail around you in almost a slow-motion view. Some people get creative when on it and some become very highly focused.
We know a lot and nothing at the same time about science and humans are highly capable when giving them the right substance. The super pill does not look like a farfetched dream but a possibility. Turritopsis dohrnii, aka immortal jellyfish, can hit the reset button and revert to an earlier developmental stage if it is injured or otherwise threatened, making it an immortal species living on earth. We, humans, learned a lot from animals. Most of our invention, like the Internet, was inspired from spider’s web, and if we dig a bit we will find that most human inventions were inspired from animals. If this can tell us anything it’s that when we think of Turritopsis dohrnii, we can say that immortality somehow is possible and not to forget deepfake that cane make immortality virtually possible so you would see your favorite singer or actor… in a deepfake virtual immortal version that you won’t be able to figure its no real!
That being said, activating receptors in our brains that can unlock the full potential of our brain is a true possibility. Like anything it all comes with side effects, we are certain scientists and inventors who are already studying, learning, and discovering more and more about our brains and what we can give them to unlock the full capabilities. So, will smart pills be the thing that can make us power powerful than AI and beat it or will we turn weak? Or will we revolute over the AI? Or will we put rules over AI in order for us not to be Slaves of the Master AI and reach a point where we are so much relying on it and can’t live without it?
A Conclusion to Robots, Deepfake, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Humans
Like anything else Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Deepfake, Blockchain, Humanoids, Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, Ratings, Automation and… Have advantages and disadvantages.
We are all going to die one day; we might be able to witness what is going to happen and we may not. There is no argument that technology is and has helped humans a lot but like anything else, it could become too much and something that controls our lives in a way that it becomes the norm.
So will humans prevail or will the digital world act as a God that controls our lives as puppets?
Until then, only the future will tell.
We either make this planet a better world, end ourselves by ourselves, or be the Vendetta.
As humans, we already need to be in an optimistic mood. At the end of the day what made Artificial Intelligence possible is the persistence of humans, and if humans persist then humans and humanity will together prevail.
